Below is some reasons as to why no posts & what I’ve been up to.
Continue readingAt a recent London Apple Admins meetup @ ITV, I gave a 15-minute (ish) version, of the 30-minute talk of the 60-minute talk on jamJAR.
Below is a link to the video of the talk, the slides in a PDF & the video of all talks from that night.
Continue readingMe again on yet another MacAdmins.org Podcast.
This time, however, you’ll be pleased to know that I largely took a back seat & left Reza Alavi of ISACC to delve into GDPR with some interjection from myself & the MacAdmins.org Podcast as to how it can affect the Apple Admin.
Continue readingThis post is a redux of the #iamroot vulnerability. The vulnerability was fully patched in 10.13.2, so there is nothing new here.
Secondly, this is also another excuse to post a dancing Groot gif.
A couple of days ago I posted on the #iamroot vulnerability, well it’s now been fixed by Apple (yay!), but this then broke something else (boo!).
See below for a round up & some more detail on the above.
UPDATE: Please see https://macmule.com/2017/11/30/imaroot-its-fixed-somethings-broken-fixed-that-now-too/
Earlier tonight I was pointed to a tweet that seemed to show an easy manner for people on High Sierra were able to simply enable root.
Well, the vuln is real. See below for a link to a fix for the issue whilst we await Apple to push a High Sierra update.
On day 3 of JNUC 2017, I gave my third & final talk of the conference: “Securely Managing Identities Across Mac and G Suite with JumpCloud”
This talk should show just how easy it is to get started with JumpCloud. Along with an overview of how at dataJAR we’re leveraging JumpCloud to integrate G Suite within our Jamf|MSP platform (datajar.mobi), as well as bridging authentication across various other cloud systems & bring 2FA to our Macs.
Continue readingOn day 2 of JNUC 2017, I was asked to participate in a panel titled “Modern Packaging and Distribution Workflows Panel”.
I was the only “non-vendor” & according to the thumbnail I’m seemingly the only person on the panel gazing over at Charles Edge.
But if your not a fan of mine (erm welcome to my blog), you’ll be pleased to know I don’t say much.
Below is a link to the video.
Continue readingAt this years JNUC I presented alongside a long time Jamf buddy of mine, John Miller. My part of the talk detailed the various application deployment methods currently available to the Jamf admin (VPP & AutoPkg). With some nuances detailed & some pitfalls mentioned.
John expanded upon the subject by opening up the discussion to Patch & the forthcoming 3rd party integrations.
Below is a link to the video, & links to each section with some more links as pertinent.
Another year, another MacAdmins.org Podcast.
This time I managed to drag along one of my partners in crime at datajar.co.uk, James Ridsdale. And you’ll be relieved to here that we’re split the speaking duties, so it’s not just me mumbling along!
Links to that episode can be found below, as well details on the MacAdmins.org Podcast & a link to the MacAdmins.org Listener Survey.
