Apple platform deployment – Accessing the latest version when your locale is neither en-ca or en-us

Standard

TL;DR – To get the latest version of Apple platform deployment which has been updated as per the above when your locale is neither en-ca or en-us, go to: https://support.apple.com/en-ca/guide/deployment/welcome/web

More details on this below.

Déjà vu

Yep, this was the same issue last year and mentioned in prior post on Apple platform deployment and locales.

Essentially whilst Apple platform deployment has been updated, accessing it from a locale other than en-ca or en-us results in a page that whilst it shows as having been updated June 2023, actually has older content.

How to check?

To verify, access the “What’s New?” section within the “Table of Contents”, and when accessing from a browser with a non en-ca or en-us locale.

The below is what greets you when accessing the site with a locale of en-gb, for example:

Why en-ca and not en-us?

en-us seems to redirect to your browsers locale, you can test this by accessing the following when your locale is neither en-ca or en-us: https://support.apple.com/en-us/guide/deployment/welcome/web

The URL should change, redirecting to your locale and the older version of Apple platform deployment.

When will Apple platform deployment be available in other locales?

There is a 2 week turnaround in updating Apple platform deployment to other locales.

Feedback

In my prior post, I mentioned that I filed some feedback on this and I’ve just updated to advise that the issue has returned with the latest updates.
